Bags for Life? We’ve got bags of news!

We’re always looking for ways to reduce waste, and our latest launch does just that. Say hello to our brand-new shopping bags, available exclusively in Company Shop and Community Shop. We caught up with Olly, one of our Brand Designers, to find out more.

How do these bags help reduce waste?

Our new bags are made entirely from recycled retail waste, and the best part is that they can be recycled again when you’re finished with them. That means you can stock up on your favourite brands at the prices you love, while also helping to tackle food and retail waste. Win-win!

Who's behind the bag magic?

We’ve teamed up with Papier Mettler, the same manufacturer trusted by M&S, Sainsbury’s, ALDI, Tesco and Lidl. They’ve created an industry-leading range of fully recycled plastic bags for life, all made from 100% recycled retail waste.

How are they made?

It’s a bit of a fantastic plastic journey: the waste is collected, cleaned, melted down, spun into raw plastic, and then transformed into strong, reusable bags at their factory in Morbach, Germany. We even visited the site ourselves to put the bags through their paces. (Spoiler: they passed the strength test!)

Where can I get one, and how much are they?

You’ll find two exclusive designs at the checkouts in Company Shop, and one design in Community Shop. Each bag costs just 80p and, as a proper Bag for Life, they can carry up to 16kg and can be used at least 240 times.

Even better, every single bag is fully traceable thanks to a unique manufacturer code. That means we can see exactly when and where it was made, what retail waste went into it, and even which colleague helped make it.

What’s next?

Keep an eye on our social channels… these bags might be the just the beginning!
